Embraer is experiencing a robust period. The Brazilian aircraft manufacturer delivered 25 aircraft in the first quarter of this year, significantly more than in the same period in 2023. These figures were released on Friday. The company’s order book now stands at its highest value in seven years.

The increase in Q1 deliveries was primarily due to business jets, with eighteen delivered, compared to eight in the first three months of 2023. The production of large commercial aircraft remained steady at seven. Last year, Embraer delivered fifteen aircraft in Q1.

The backlog increased by $2.4 billion (+13%) to a total of $21.1 billion. The vast majority of the new orders were for commercial aircraft.

A significant boost for Embraer was an order in March from American Airlines for ninety E175 jets. American opted not for Embraer’s latest generation of E-jets, but for the slightly older E175 model.

This decision is tied to scope clauses: agreements with American unions allow less well-paid pilots to be employed on certain regional aircraft. The Embraer E175 meets these criteria, whereas the newer E2 generation does not.
